  • Heat Insulation: The Hurst composite door exceeds Approved Document L of the Building Regulation requirements, keeping your home insulated and your bills down.
  • Sound Insulation: Protecting you from external noise, our doors have at least Outdoor-Indoor Transmission Class: 26db and at least Sound Transmission Class (STC): 29db
  • Durability: A door with pedigree, offering strength, high impact resistance and stability – all backed by a ten year guarantee.

Superior style with strength

The Hurst insulated composite door is strong, durable and secure. Manufactured to an exacting and high quality specification, its strength comes from the construction of the subframe in a solid, water-resistant polymer material, reinforced behind with Laminated Veneered Lumber (LVL) The thermoset GRP skins are then bonded to the subframe, and the core filled with high density 100% CFC-free polyurethane foam. The thermoset GRP skins are depression moulded featuring a lifelike woodgrain effect and high definition panels provide an authentic timber like door with all the advantages but limited maintenance.

Thermoset GRP cannot expand or contract laterally so the door cannot increase or decrease in size, an advantage over many other commonly used materials.

The Hurst Composite Door collection features breakthrough door technology, combining proven levels of high security with incredible good looks.

Locking Systems

Winkhaus TruLock
Doors specified with Lever/Lever and Lever/Pad handles are supplied with a Winkhaus TruLock multi-point locking system as standard. The lever operated latch system
provides instant security and enhanced performance by engaging low friction hook thrust plates, located at the top and bottom of the door, for a smooth, precise operation when the handle lever is lifted.

AV3 Heritage Lock
Featuring a locking mechanism similar to a traditional round cylinder lock the AV3 Heritage ‘slam lock’, is operated
automatically as soon as the door is closed. An external lever handle is not required to operate the locking points and the lock can be opened externally by turning the key. The door is automatically locked when closed from the inside or outside.

AV3 AutoLock
Generally used in conjunction with ‘Pull’ handles, the AV3 AutoLock ‘slam lock’ from Winkhaus is an automatic multi-point locking system with independently acting hooks, the first for security and the second for weather tightness to
give a secure and draft free door.

Colours and glass options

In addition to our seven standard woodgrain colours we have our premium colours which include more contemporary shades.  Our premium sprayed colour service gives you an almost unlimited amount of colour options; choose from the extensive RAL range of colours and make your door truly unique.

For truly stunning glazing options, the Platinum Clarity, Flores, Kara and Simplicity triple glazed designs are constructed using hand-cut bevels and beautifully textured glass pieces. These

are then assembled using traditional stained glass methods into zinc or brass cames. The decorative glass is then encapsulated between two pieces of clear tempered safety glass to give excellent thermal and sound insulation with the added benefit of an easy to clean, smooth surface.

Hand-made to create the look of traditional stained glass windows, the Heritage Dorchester range is made from individual pieces of coloured and clear obscure glass cemented into lead grooves and protected between two sheets of clear toughened glass.

Stable doors and back doors

Whilst standard uPVC residential doors were the more usual choice for back doors and kitchen doors, there is no reason why you can't chose a composite door. A uPVC residential door will be the more cost effective option, but a composite door will provide a more elegant solution, offering additional good looks with security. Classic styles such as our composite half or composite four make ideal front or back doors and you can choose a plain glass option to keep it simple

An alternative solution for a kitchen back door is the composite stable door. This has become very popular with our customers lately, combining both style and practicality. As well as the true aesthetics of a wooden door, the design allows for the opening of the upper leaf. This provides light and ventilation whilst keeping the lower leaf closed to prevent children or pets from leaving the home. Each leaf is completely surrounded by a rigid subframe providing both security and stability, as well as weather protection.

Choose from a range of colours in a tongue and groove wood effect and glass options, from the simple rustic to bevelled elegance.
