Glass and Glazing

The glass in your windows and doors shapes how warm, quiet and private your home feels, and our FENSA and CERTASS registered team fits every option below.

There’s more to ‘double glazing’ than first meets the eye!

Most homeowners think about the frame first when they’re choosing new windows or doors, and the style and material do obviously matter.

But the types of glass on offer count for just as much, and they’re usually what decides how warm a room feels in January, how much noise gets in from the road, and how easily a neighbour can see in.

Ruislip Windows fits a full range of glass upgrades alongside every uPVC and aluminium window, door and conservatory we install, whether that is extra warmth for a cold north-facing room, extra quiet for a house on a main road, or extra privacy for a bathroom window that looks straight onto next door.

Honest advice built on 40 years of experience

Nobody here will try to sell you an upgrade you don’t need.

Our team, based at our Watford showroom, will talk you through what each option actually does for your home before you decide.

Have a look through the options below, or give us a ring if you’d rather talk it through with someone first.

The types of glass we fit

The standard, well-proven glazing fitted as part of every Ruislip window and door.

A third pane of glass, mainly for extra warmth in a cold or north-facing room.

Cuts down the noise getting in from a busy road, a flight path or noisy neighbours.

Helps keep a conservatory, orangery or any room with a lot of glass cooler on a sunny day.

Blinds fitted inside the glass unit itself, so there is nothing hanging on the outside to dust or catch on little fingers.

Utilising a special transparent coating that breaks down dirt in sunlight and rinses it away in the rain.

Leaded lights, stained glass, Georgian bars and frosted patterns that suit a period home or a private room.

Laminated and toughened glass, ideal for doors, low-level windows and busy family homes.

Fitted by a team you can trust

We’ve been fitting windows, doors and glass across Watford and the surrounding areas since 1986, and every installer working on your home is FENSA and CERTASS registered.

Every glass upgrade comes with an insurance-backed warranty, and if anything needs attention afterwards, our own in-house service engineer deals with it rather than a subcontractor.

Once you’ve chosen, most glass upgrades can be handled within our usual three to four week lead time for new windows or doors.

There’s no hard sell at any point, just honest advice about which option suits your home.

GLASS & GLAZING FAQ

Double glazing has two panes of glass with a small gap between them, and triple glazing adds a third pane, mostly for extra warmth. A matched third pane does very little for noise on its own, so if a quieter room is the goal, ask us about acoustic glass instead. Have a chat with our team about which option suits the room you’re working on.

It depends on the room and what’s bothering you about it. Extra warmth calls for triple glazing, unwanted noise calls for acoustic glass, and an overlooked window calls for decorative glass. Tell us what’s not working about your current windows and we’ll talk you through the best combination for your home.

Yes. Each window or door is made to order, so you can choose different glass for a noisy front bedroom and a private bathroom in the same house, rather than one fixed spec for the whole property. Ask us about it when you book your free survey.

It varies by size, room and the option you choose, so there’s no single number that fits every home. Our guide to double glazing costs explains what usually affects the price, and a free, no-obligation survey gives you an exact figure for your own windows. Just give us a ring and we’ll talk you through it properly.
