Who are aluminium windows for?
Aluminium windows suit anyone planning an extension, replacing heavy old frames, or wanting more of the view from a room they already love.
The metal is strong enough to be made into noticeably slimmer frames than uPVC, and that leaves more of each opening as glass.
Ruislip Windows has been fitting windows and doors since 1986, and every aluminium window we supply is made to measure for your home.

Why choose aluminium windows for your home?
Aluminium suits homes where you want slim frames, a choice of colours and very little upkeep.
- A cleaner view. Slim sightlines, the visible width of the frame, let in more daylight and give a clearer view out.
- Very little upkeep. The powder-coated finish resists weathering and fading, and a wipe with warm soapy water keeps it clean.
- A choice of colours. Frames come in a choice of powder-coated colours, and dual colour is possible too, with one finish inside and a different one outside.
- Warm as well as slim. A thermal break, a strip of insulating material built into the frame, stops the cold outside travelling through to the inside. Triple glazing is available for aluminium windows too, if a room needs extra warmth.
What styles of aluminium window can I choose?
We can supply aluminium windows in almost every style. Every window is made to measure, and the choice comes down to how you want it to open and how it should look from inside the room.
Windows that open on hinges
Casement windows are the most popular choice, more details below. Tilt and turn windows open inwards in two ways: tilted at the top for ventilation, or swung fully open like a door for cleaning the glass.
Windows that slide or fold
Pivot windows turn on a central point, either horizontally or vertically. Horizontal sliding windows glide sideways and suit a spot with no room for a window to swing open. Bifold windows fold back concertina-style to open up a wide space.
Fixed and feature windows
Fixed windows do not open, and are used for light and a view, on their own or beside opening windows. Bay and bow windows have a section of their own below, and we also make floor-to-ceiling, oriel and glass-box designs. Tell us what you have in mind and we will talk you through it.
Aluminium bay and bow windows
Bay windows project from the external wall in angled sections, and bow windows do the same in a gentle curve.
Both add floor space and a wider outlook inside the room, and both bring in light from more than one side.
Every one is made to measure, so tell us the room and the wall you have and we will talk you through the layout, or read more on our bay and bow windows page.
Aluminium casement windows
Casement windows are our most popular style of aluminium window.
Each opening pane is hinged at the side or the top and swings outwards to leave the whole opening clear for fresh air. They suit bedrooms, kitchens and living rooms alike.
You can have a single casement, a double casement with two panes meeting in the middle, or a casement beside a fixed pane to fill a wider opening.
For a sleeker, flush look, see our aluminium window systems below, or read more on our casement windows page.
Our aluminium window systems
We fit the UK made range of ALUK aluminium casement windows as standard, and for a sleeker, flush look we offer two further ranges.
Origin Flush Aluminium
A flush casement with a clean, sleek finish on the outside, in two systems.
OW-70 Slimline gives you the most glass on contemporary and extension projects, and OW-80 Premium suits larger openings, exposed sites and period properties.
Stellar Flush Aluminium
Slim sightlines and strong sections that allow large glazed areas, with advanced thermal break technology built in.
It is a window and door system, and the two can match.

What Our Customers Are Saying About Us

FAQ
Are aluminium windows better than uPVC?
It depends on your home and what you want from the window, as each material has real strengths. Aluminium gives you slimmer frames and more glass, which suits extensions, large openings and modern homes, while a sliding sash window is only available in uPVC. Tell us about your home and we will give you an honest view, or read our comparison of uPVC or aluminium windows.
How much do aluminium windows cost?
Every aluminium window we fit is made to measure, and no single figure suits every home. The price moves with the style of window, the number of openers, the size and the type and style of glass, and a free survey gives you an exact quote for your own home.
Are aluminium windows cold?
Not when the frame has a thermal break, a layer of insulating material built into the frame that stops the cold outside travelling through to the inside. Stellar Flush is built with advanced thermal break technology, and triple glazing is available for aluminium windows too if a room needs extra warmth.
Can aluminium windows suit a period home?
Yes, provided the system suits the look of your home: Alitherm Heritage echoes traditional steel windows, and the Origin OW-80 system is suited to period properties. Every council sets its own rules for conservation areas and listed buildings, and it is worth checking with yours before you order. Read more about Crittall-style windows, or give us a ring and we will talk through what suits your home.
How long do aluminium windows last?
Aluminium frames are built to last for decades, and the powder-coated finish only needs an occasional wipe with warm soapy water. Our guide to caring for your windows and doors covers the details, and our in-house service engineer looks after any aftercare.
Which window styles do you make in aluminium?
We make aluminium windows in almost every style, from casement and tilt and turn to pivot, sliding, bifold, fixed, bay and bow and floor-to-ceiling designs. The one exception is sliding sash, which we make in uPVC. Tell us what you are after and we will talk you through which style suits the room.
