Why homeowners choose uPVC windows
If your current windows are letting in draughts, sticking in their frames or pushing your heating bills up, uPVC is usually the material our customers ask about first.
It holds its colour and shape well for decades, rarely needs more than an occasional wipe down, and gives you a strong, secure frame without the sanding, painting and reglazing that older timber windows need.
'A' Rated Windows
We fit uPVC windows from Rehau, one of the established manufacturers behind our range, in a choice of colours and finishes to suit homes from a 1930s semi to a new-build extension.
Most Rehau systems achieve an A energy rating or better, so your new windows keep the heat in as well as looking good on the front of your home.
Prefer a flush, more traditional profile, or the straightforward look of a standard casement?
Read on for a quick guide to the styles, then see which of our two Rehau ranges suits your home.
Our uPVC ranges
uPVC windows come in several shapes. Here’s a quick guide to the ones we’re asked about most:
Casement
Hinged at the side or top and opens outward, the most popular window style in the UK, giving a tight seal against the weather and plenty of airflow when it’s open.
Flush
With a flush casement the sash sits level with the outer frame when closed, for a sleeker finish that suits period properties and modern homes alike.
Sliding sash
The window panels slide up and down on an internal balance mechanism, the classic look for Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian houses.
Tilt and turn
One handle opens the window two ways, tilted from the top for safe ventilation on a wet day, or swung fully inward for cleaning the outside of the glass from indoors.
Bay and bow
Bay windows project outward on three panels, usually a flat centre pane flanked by two angled sides, and add useful extra space inside. Bow windows use four to six smaller panels for a softer, curved look.
Our Rehau ranges
Our two Rehau ranges below cover the casement and flush styles directly. For sliding sash, tilt and turn or bay and bow in uPVC, give our team a ring and we’ll talk you through what’s available.
- Rehau uPVC Windows: our core casement range, tested for security and weather performance, with a smooth, virtually maintenance-free finish in a wide choice of colours
- Rehau Rio Flush: a flush sash design that sits level with the outer frame, giving a sleeker profile that suits period and character homes
Want more detail on a particular shape?
Our window styles page covers sash, tilt and turn, bay and bow and more, available in both uPVC and aluminium.
And if a property calls for a proper period feel, our Residence Collection under Heritage Windows is built to recreate that character in a uPVC frame.
Fitted by a team you can trust
Ruislip Windows has been improving homes since 1986, and every replacement uPVC window is fitted by our own FENSA and CERTASS registered team.
Each one carries a QANW insurance-backed warranty, and our own in-house service engineer looks after any aftercare, not a subcontractor.
Most orders are fitted within our usual three to four week lead time.
We don’t go in for hard sell tactics, just straightforward advice about which range is right for your home.

FAQ
What is a uPVC window?
uPVC stands for unplasticised polyvinyl chloride, which is just a strong, weatherproof plastic used to make window frames. It doesn’t rot, rust or need repainting the way timber does, and it holds its shape and colour for decades with very little upkeep. Come and see a sample for yourself at our Watford showroom.
Which is better, uPVC or aluminium windows?
It depends on what you want from the window. uPVC gives you a warmer, more budget-friendly frame with a huge range of colours, while aluminium gives you slimmer sightlines and a more contemporary look, usually at a higher price. Tell us about your home and we’ll help you weigh up which one makes more sense for it.
Is uPVC the same as double glazing?
Not quite. uPVC describes what the frame is made from, and double glazing describes the glass itself, two panes with a gap between them for extra warmth. Most of our uPVC windows come with double glazing as standard, and we can upgrade to triple glazing if a particular room needs extra warmth.
How long do uPVC windows last?
A well-fitted uPVC window from an established manufacturer like Rehau should give you twenty to twenty five years of reliable use, often more with a little care. A quick wipe down and an occasional check on the hinges is usually all it takes to keep them working well. If your current windows are past their best, we’re happy to take a look and give you an honest opinion.
How much do new uPVC windows cost?
The cost varies by the size, style and number of windows you need, so there’s no single figure that fits every home. Our guide to the cost of new windows explains what usually affects the price, and a free, no-obligation survey gives you an exact figure for your own home. Just give us a ring and we’ll talk you through it.
Does uPVC only come in white?
No, uPVC comes in far more than white these days. Our range includes shades of grey, black and woodgrain finishes that mimic timber, so there’s something to suit most homes. Come and see the colours for yourself at our Watford showroom, or ask about them when you book your free quote.
